Rosa was born and raised in Manchester, UK. Between 2008 and 2012 she studied Spanish and Portuguese in Oxford, and in 2012 she came to live in Lisbon, which has been her base ever since. She worked for a number of years at the bookshop Ler Devagar, where she first came into contact with Planeta Tangerina’s books. She did an Erasmus Mundus Masters in “Crossways in Cultural Narratives”, and a PhD in Comparative Studies, at the University of Lisbon. She wrote both her Masters dissertation and her PhD thesis on another foreign woman who made her home in Portugal and Portuguese literature: the author, Ilse Losa.
Alongside her work at Planeta Tangerina, where she has been since 2022, Rosa is a freelance literary translator from Spanish and Portuguese into English. In her free time, she dances.
