Kitty Crowther was born in Brussels in 1970, to an English father and a Swedish mother. She studied Graphic Arts at the Institut Saint-Luc, also in Brussels.
She takes her inspiration from mythology, folk tales, and all the children’s books by which she has been surrounded from an early age.
She has been making books for children since 1994, having illustrated over 40 books which have in turn been translated a little all over the world.
In 2010 she won the ALMA award, the world’s most prestigious prize for children’s literature. The jury described her as “the master of line but also of atmosphere”.
