Dina Mendonça was born in Lisbon in 1970 and lived her first childhood in France (until she was 6 years old).


She has an undergraduate degree in philosophy (Universidade Católica de Lisboa) and she has a masters’ degree in education with concentration on Philosophy for Children (Montclair State University where she studied with Matthew Lipman e Ann Margaret Sharp). She holds a doctoral degree from the University of South Carolina (2003) and has been a philosophy researcher at Philosophy Institute from NOVA FCSH, UNL. She also teaches by invite at the School of social Sciences and Humanities (NOVA FCSH) and for the Azores University in their Masters’ of Philosophy for Children, in addition to promoting application of philosophy in various educational contexts.  

She creates original material and contributes to various pedagogical projects (Escola Criativa, Serviço Cultural e Educativo of Cascais Council (2006-2014); Pedagogical Project 10×10 from Foundation Calouste Gulbenkian (2012-2019); Pedagogical school Project Respira (Aldara Bizarro, 2012); Foundation CCB (Cá Dentro 2019; Festa de Desaniversário 2020-21)). In addition, she provides philosophical support to creative processes for theater, dance and performances for children (some of the people she has worked with include choreographer Aldara Bizarro; stage director Sofia Cabrita and Maria Gil, Theater company Companhia Caótica and Teatro do Frio, performing artist Margarida Mestre).
