Ana Pessoa was born in Lisbon, in 1982.

She’s an author of children’s and young adult books.

In 2011, she won Branquinho da Fonseca (Expresso/Gulbenkian) Prize with her first book “The karate girl’s red notebook”.

In 2018, she was distinguished with the Maria Rosa Colaço Literary Prize for “Here is a good place”.

Her books have been published in Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Serbia, Chile and the Netherlands and have received several awards by institutions such as FNLIJ (Brazil), Banco del Libro (Venezuela), Fundación Cuatrogatos (USA), International Youth Library (Germany), among others. 

2020 marked her debut with Bernardo P. Carvalho in graphic novels, with the book “Detour”.

Ana is also an active blogger (www.belgavista.blogspot.com).

Ana Pessoa is for this decade’s YA literature what Alice Vieira was for the ’80s and Ana Saldanha for the ’90s. Each of them marks a paradigm shift in terms of writing for young people.
