Outside
(Portuguese edition)
Who does this footprint belong to?
What’s that worm doing there?
Is it a toad or a frog?
What’s the name of this tree?
Even if we live in a big city, there’s always nature outside: clouds and stars, trees and flowers, rocks and beaches, birds, reptiles or mammals.
So what are we waiting for?
Let’s get off the sofa and start exploring!
Created in collaboration with a team of Portuguese scientific experts, this book aims to pique curiosity about flora, fauna and other aspects of the natural world. It also includes suggestions for activities and many illustrations that will help to get the whole family involved, challenging us to leave the house, to go out and discover – or simply admire – the amazing world that exists Outside.

What they say
It’s a delightful educational book, and oh how we need good science books! For children, for adults, for one and for all.
Andreia Brites, “O Bicho dos livros” blog
An incredible nature encyclopaedia that shows the younger ones a world that has been increasingly hidden from their eyes, and which will prompt them to jump fences into greener lands.
Pedro Miguel Silva, Deus me livro blog, 15/10/2018
One of the best books that I’ve held in my hands lately.
Ana Kotowicz, i newspaper, Liv supplement, 1/06/2014
What’s that word for when you pick a book that’s aimed at children and on each page you learn something that you didn’t know before? It’s called a miracle: a scientific book that stimulates those who read it and see it, making a learning experience out of a pure delight.
Miguel Esteves Cardoso, Público newspaper, 03/01/2015
After “Outside”, which is in fact an art walk, we get the sense we perhaps made a big mistake when we swapped encyclopaedias for Google and Wikipedia. Perhaps the internet killed off an important part of our curiosity. Luckily, though, children remain faithful to asking searching and exploratory questions and they’re fortunate enough to have as special a book as this on their shelves.
