Nobody passes!
(Portuguese edition)
There was once a general who wanted to be the hero of a story. Now, for someone to become the hero of a story, they must be brave in the face of danger, daring to do what they think is right, for example. But there are many other examples.
The general in this story, however, thought that the quickest way to become a hero was to appear in a book. He didn’t need to do anything special.
This general had an army of guards who followed his orders without batting a eyelid. All and any orders, whatever they might be.
Then, one day, the general took a decision.
A crazy decision, of course…
This book is part of the Round Corners collection.

What they say
When basic values such as freedom and justice are rejected, a revolution quickly ends. [Nobody passes] elegantly communicates where the boundaries lie.
Barnebok Kritik blog, Egon LÅstad, 09/03/2020
(…) a visually hectic, laugh-out-loud masterpiece (…) The beautiful and chaotic felt-tip-penned illustrations breathe life into this book, which is filled to the brim with eclectic characters. This is more than just a visual cacophony, however: this book is a profound statement on dictatorship and peaceful revolution.
Unity Books (NZ)
This clever book asks questions about freedom and authority, but also story-making and book-crafting. The illustrations brim with life, colour and humour.

An absurd story that will leave you begging for more.
Ana Kotowicz, i newspaper, January 2015
It’s one of the great books to have been published this year. Yes, yes, I’m aware it’s tucked away in children’s books and that it has more images than text. I repeat: it’s one of the great books to have been published this year.
Sara Figueiredo Costa, Caldeirão Voltaire, December 2014
“Nobody passes!” is quite something! (…)
With that acknowledged, all we’ll say is that in this story there’s a general, an armed forces employee and an unexpected event. The revolution is, ironically, more of a consequence than anything else. And that’s all we’ll say. Otherwise we’ll end up saying something like: “It’s compulsory reading!” (…)
Andreia Brites, O Bicho dos Livros, December 2014
One of the great releases of this year, earning Planeta Tangerina the Best Children’s Book Publisher award in 2014, at the Bologna International Children’s Book Fair.
Catarina Figueira, Time Out magazine, January 2015
“Nobody passes!” is the title of one of the most beautiful books conceived of and written about the subject of dictatorship and peaceful revolution. And it’s for children.
