All year round

It only happens very rarely but there are children’s books that you’ll need to buy twice. The first time, you buy it to give to a child but, looking to see if it’s suitable for their age and tastes, you get so taken by the book that you won’t stop until you’ve read it from cover to cover.

(…) It’s what happens with the book All Year Round from the admirable publisher Planeta Tangerina. Everything about the book is attractive, solid, fun, stimulating and pretty. Isabel Minhós Martins writes very well, always challenging us and teaching us things in an exciting and conspiring way (…) as if we’d discovered them all by ourselves: it’s one of the most difficult feelings to inspire in a reader. (…) The book is wonderfully illustrated by Bernardo Carvalho but that’s not all. They’re two of the founders of the publisher and they thought about the book as a whole. Here, between the illustrations, photograph and exemplary graphic design, a whole year’s worth of suggestions, walks and observations. The suggestions are varied, imaginative and often quite the challenge (…). It’s all interspersed with many pages for drawing and writing down observations, making this almanac more of a personal, graphic and literary diary for recording a year dedicated to discovering nature.
